The God Who Sees... Hebrews 4:13

Updated: Aug 27, 2018

Life can be pretty unpredictable, unfair and often downright messy. No matter the personality type, upbringing or financial status, most people admit that sometimes, daily life can feel chaotic. It doesn't matter how hard we try we can't always control people or outcomes. The result is that many of us get bruised and battered as we navigate the 'journey of life'.

Why do we surrender to other self-destructive habits including worry and anxiety? Because we despair of ever seeing change. Or we dread the waiting for solutions. Satan uses fear and despair to keep us stagnant and he uses discouragement to effectively paralyze and keep us from making progress. Rather than trusting God's overarching goodness and mercy, we give in to feelings of hopelessness. Things can feel worst when we suffer an injustice, lose something or someone who is precious. Or perhaps we just feel helpless as we observe the current state of the world.

The good news is that we never have to live life alone nor are we at the mercy of capricious humans. Rather, we have God and He sees... He sees you, me, every one of us. He says all who call on the name of the Lord will be saved. Acts 2:21

Beloved, God sees all things. You don't see Him, but He sees you. God saw Hagar, an Egyptian slave, as she served Sarah, an Israelite. No matter how lowly your status, He sees you. No matter the challenge you face, He keenly observes your struggle and knows your issues. He observed as Sarah volunteered Hagar to become a surrogate mother for herself and Abraham. Hagar had no rights, she had to let them use her. Genesis 16:3

Or you maybe you messed things up and wonder how the Lord can help someone like you. Hebrews 4:13 says we are exposed before Him and must give an account to Him. Does that scare you? God was there, as Hagar sassed her mistress and despised Sarah for being barren. Sarah disciplined her so harshly, that Hagar fled from home. Genesis 16:6

Yet, the angel of God appeared to her and assured her that our all-powerful, all loving God, still had a plan for her and a promise for her future. Genesis 16:6

You may not hear Him, but He hears the very whispers of your heart. He heard Hagar's cry of affliction. (Genesis 16:11) He is keenly involved in the details of our lives (Proverbs 5:21) and we don't have to worry about missing out on any good thing that He has ordained for us. God knows all things and sees all things, and He has promised that He will never leave us nor forsake us. (Hebrews 13:5) Does some area of your life feel stuck? Have you been rejected or betrayed? Are you messing up or falling behind? God has a plan for you. He has engraved you on the palm of His hands - Isaiah 49:16. Every time God lifts His hands to act, He raises you up before His face and brings you to His mind. He loves you, He sees you and He will fight for you.
